Seminar #5: Addressing & Avoiding Foot Pain

Frank.Linda

Speaker: Linda Frank
RF, NBCR, LMT, NCREd & Principal of Reflexology Academy NW

➡️ Prerequisites:

Basic understanding of foot terminology & anatomy (some review will be provided)

➡️ Description

Many of us have seen clients who insist they have “plantar fasciitis” after reading about heel pain on the internet.  However, that pain could be a symptom of several different conditions.

While we cannot diagnose our clients’ pain, it’s critical for us to understand what may be happening…and why. And how we might help someone find relief.

Some of the topics of this presentation will include:

  • The most common foot maladies such as “plantar fasciitis”, neuropathy, bunions, hammertoes, overpronation and what we — and our clients — may do to help provide relief and avoid future problems;
  • A brief introduction to the newest science of fascia and its relevance to reflexology therapist;
  • A brief review of anatomy & physiology of the leg & foot & how it intersects with reflexology;
  • How shoes affect our feet and our health;
  • The 4 most harmful aspects of shoes, and shoes that are healthier alternatives;
  • Orthotics: some of the surprising research findings.

Linda will show some videos by experts in the field of foot pain and foot remediation, so you’ll end up with resources with which you can ongoingly refresh your learning — and share these resources with your clients to assist them in achieving better foot health.

Participants will receive a resource sheet post-presentation. An even more extensive resource sheet will be provided after the Post-Conference Workshop on this subject scheduled for May 19, 2024, from 9:00am -12:30 pm CT.
